If you had a choice of cut fields to hunt dove. All things being equal (closeness of water/tree lines/etc) which would you choose?

I'd scout each field and see which one had the most birds.

I have hunted all 3 types of fields, often...and I hunt with a very good retriever, but I would choose the cut over wheat for ease in marking and finding birds...spent hours over a lifetime looking for a dove that fell right up against a corn or milo stalk. And after 30 or more retrieves in the heat and dry dusty conditions even Raelette occasionally struggles to get the scent of a dead dove in the same area that a bunch have already been retrieved from.

Burnt wheat is the best I have ever seen. Second goes to corn fields harvested with an old horse drawn combine by Amish farmers.

I would pick shredded corn over anything x3
