Pretty scary, lucky he is still alive. Gotta be extra careful with kids and dogs.

We do tend to get lackadaisical about safety sometimes. This is a good reminder that a split-second mistake can have long-term consequences.

#1 rule, always point gun in safe direction.

I have been to many hunts observing many guys pointing their guns at others, especially coming back to the blind after retrieving a duck, stomping in the mud.
When I told them about it, their reply was: its on safety.
Oh, good, so my life depends on a 1/64 th of an inch safety pin thinghy now, awesome!

Never point a gun at others, even when empty.

Another big no no, is when fellow hunters are asleep in their layouts, when that happens, i take their gun away from them.

^^^ I'm borderline clinically paranoid about looking down a barrel. If I do, it's the last time we hunt together. There are enough risks already, I don't need another one.

Yikes. Gnarly.

I agree with Larry about the rest of the risks associated with hunting.
