What you want to know? If you're hunting public its probably not much different than TX, although I've never had someone run through my dekes and set up within 50 yards of me as was posted earlier. But I've been gone for 20 years so I'm sure times have changed.

Bayou Meto, Cache River, Hurricane...all the popular WMA's will be crowded during weekends, and oftentimes during the week.

If your a masochist go post your question on the Arkansas page of Duckhuntingchat.com.

Im in Arkansas right now.
Jonesboro has the geese.
The rest is full of water and ducks are still feeding on the sheet water, not in the timber nor at the lakes, ponds, etc.
Water everywhere. Season opens tomorrow.

been up there the past 6 years... Don't waste your time going until January... the herd thins out and the mallards get real nasty in January... but if this is your first time going, you better have some locals lined up to hunt with or a guide. That ain't the place to go in blind and hope to find a spot...wont happen.

I’ve been told that same thing about every place I’ve gone to hunt. The whole point in hunting for me is to learn stuff on my own. It’s not always about shooting limits. If I get one mallard to drop into the timber, the trip will have been a success for me. If not, I’ll learn from my mistakes and try again next year.

what I am referring has nothing to do with "shooting limits" You need someone local up there to show you around or you WILL get lost, its like going to caddo lake for the first time at night. If you don't find someone local, make sure you have a good GPS and know how to use it... I had a notebook with about 12-15 GPS coordinates in it, but i lost it or i would send it to you.... January, the birds work better and there are less people... You would probably have a better chance of linking up with someone then also. The tensions are a lot lower then.

I misunderstood you then, I get a lot of “just take a guide to kill birds” messages. I keep two gps on the boat, one handheld and a Lawrence with tracking. Both would have to crap out for me to get lost somewhere. I’m going to be heading up the last week before the split in December, might not be prime time but I didn’t get to pick the dates.

That part is still up in the air. All we really have decided so far is when we’re going and that we want to do a few days of timber hunting.
