Gator glide

Anyone have it on their boat? We did my buddies last week and I’m going to do mine Saturday. Seems pretty awesome so far, and even dry it’s as slick as ice. One little push and a beer can slides all the way from the front to the back of the boat. Pretty tough as well, it seems like it will take a chisel to get the stuff off. A few of my spots are across some really shallow mud flats so I’m excited to see how much this helps, if at all.

Buddy has it on his prodigy. Not a friend of oyster shells. Be careful when you're launching though. They can and will slide of the trailer as soon as you unhook it.

Stuff looks pretty awesome. I assume it's epoxy with graphite? How did you prep the hull?

No clue what it’s made out of, but hull prep wasn’t much. Just lightly sanded and wiped down. 3-5 coats with 20 minute breaks in between. Pretty easy to put on and work with.

The stuff works as designed and will allow you to get stuck way worse than you ever imagine and a lot more shallow if not on dry land.

Supposedly you lose some handling ability with it as well. IF you have a rounded chine or tapered chine boat that handles and turns really well it will cause it to slide in shallower water when turning. Running tight creeks and timber on plane can be a problem with it.

I have it on both my duck boats. I'd say its nice when you gotta slide your boat off the trailer or winch it back on when in un orthodox ramps. As far as its benefit when on the water its negligible. Were not running mud down on the coast. As far as durability....I have a new boat and its nicked up already. But I use the boat as intended. Your gonna need to touch it up every other year or 3 if your lazy. If your annual about it every year.

Not sure if its worth it. Its one of those things that won't hurt you but not sure how much the benefits are compared to the up keep.

Not something I would mess with. Would not work for me, I launch my boat solo all the time, and I would have to change the way I launch my boat, it would make it more of a hassle.

Friend of minesvlittle brother put it on a jon boat. 1st time out put the boat on the launch. When he tells the story I laugh pretty good.

One of the reasons I want it, one of my launches this year is pretty much a crap dirt road that dead ends into a creek. It’s a real pain in the a$$. Hoping I can slide it in and out a little easier

Have it on both of my boats and love it. I bought it specifically for launching off of roads and unimproved ramps. I can unload and load the boat by myself with my trailer bunks several inches out of the water. It does seem to help when going across thick vegetation and mud but that's just a bonus for me.

Does the boat slide around on the trailer taking corners?

I keep mine strapped in the back anyways so I hope that won’t be a problem

No. At least if your using strong straps. I actualy find the GG beneficial when launching and loading the boat even on normal ramps. I have a ramp at my RV park thats private to members and its 75 yards from my camper. But...its has a dam low spot where you do not want your tires to dip down when loading....launching not a big deal as the weight is off. But when its time to load up my bunks...depending on water level can be out of water and the gg helps out a lot.

Like I said its the launching and loading where you get the benefits. Maybe gliding off stumps etc also but thats not a big concern.

LEAVE THE STRAP HOOKED UP TO YOUR BOAT WHEN LAUNCHING AND ONLY UNHOOK WHEN THE BOAT IS CLOSE TO THE WATER LOL. And leaving the motor in forward while you hook back up when loading helps keep the boat on the bunks while you make your way to the bow to hook it up.

Oh yeah I've known people to drop em with icy conditions. I want to put it on my boat just haven't. I've dry launched mine and pushed it in the water and run some shallow hard bottom stuff and think it would help both
