Finally seeing some light

Probably no secret we got a second arse whoopin by flood waters. This last flood was the exception. My tractor got flooded and I just don't have time to a 25 year old tractor. I can't live without a front end loader and a tractor and I certainly can't put things back in order around the house with out a tractor. So off to Kubota I went and bought me a new one. I should have done that 20 years ago. My bride loves it and has now claimed it as hers. The ducktoon wound up in a tight spot. It was still connected to the strap on the trailer but the strap spool was way up under the boat deck and bent. The arse end was over the fence with only one pontoon, the port aft corner of the boat, resting on a 300 gallon tote. To say the least is was teetering side to side and dangerous. It would have no trouble at all to push on on side and push it all the way over on its side. The only thing that held up the starboard aft was one taught piece of barbed wire on the fence. It was holding just enough weight to keep it from flipping on it side from an elevated point of about 4 feet. That certainly would have rendered a lot of damage. So with my wife in the driver's seat we set out to get it back on the trailer. We wrapped a strap around the starboard bow part of the pontoon and used the front end loader to lift it. That really made it unstable as the entire weight of the boat was resting on the port aft and the starboard bow. Somebody had to get up under the boat, unhook the trailer, attach a chain and drag the trailer out. Well it wasn't going to be my wife so in I went. I go the chin on, the trailer out and installed cribbing under the starboard pontoon. I hooked the trailer onto my truck and got it pointed in the right direction to go under the pontoons and backed it up to the cribbing. It was an all or nothing shot at the point. Sometimes you just have to say hold my coffee and watch this. I rammed the rear of the trailer through the cribbing and just hammered the gas until it would go no more. I chained the boat to the front of the trailer and then just hit the gas forward pulling the port aft off of the tote and let it fall the 2 feet to the trailer. I thought for sure one or both of those two moves would have destroyed something. Usually my bright ideas would light up a room. All in all it went smooth as butter. Now I intend to get it to the coast and shoot some redheaded birds out of it this year. Me, Hogman and our brides are going to go see what we can find. It will pull up beside and mangrove island and blend right in. It will be nice having coffee and breakfast in the blind. With the comfort of a toilet the girls will be able to stay much longer than usual. Bring on the ducks. Oh there is a river I have in mind that gets very little pressure. A short 6 mile run there is a place I have hunted with medium success. Teal and grays are what we were killing. The banks are really steep with overhanging willows. WE can drive right up under the willows and vanish from the ducks.

I give thanks already for sure. Most of the people we pulled out of the drink in Cinco ranch had no flood insurance. It had never been a worry or a thought for them. They had no contents and no flood insurance. Were talking $400,000 to $700,000 homes with water up to their necks. I pulled the airboat up to the front door and they started loaded personals. I asked they keep it to a minimum. When the father said "Whats in these bags is all we got left" that'll hit your feels button. Yes sir I am very thankful. It is turning off cooler outside so I reckon its time to angry on some ducks. This will be ducktoon's year. I intend to use it on just about every outing.
