My go to spot was under about 3-4ft of water on the bay. I went there and had to turn around and drive back home. First opener I've missed since I started duck hunting. Looking like this weekend is going to be a mess too. I will be taking a vacation day next week and hunting during the week to escape the flooding.

IT's KILLIN ME

A guy told me that the water level in the private reservoir he hunted Sunday morning near Port Arthur rose 4 inches during his hunt ... the first time he's ever seen that in ~20 yrs there. Him and his partner bagged some bluewings and gadwall, less than a limit but a decent hunt. I know there were many hunters at JD Murphree, and I heard some shooting from where I was; but I know the water had to have been deep enough in most of the places I know there, to require hunting from the boat.

My issue was that where I launch, the water was about 4 ft. higher than normal. I sit on a shoreline to hide out. The shoreline would've been under about 3 or so ft. of water...

My decoys would've just floated away.

The water was definitely high in the marsh near PA.

We hunted south of Winnie and dodged the rain both mornings. Hunting was pretty slow for us compared to opening weekends in years past.

cry
Went on opening day to Anahauc. Our blinds were in 4 feet of water.
Decided to come back but guide informed that water on the road which we passed in the morning
and was dry is under water. Our car parked there is in water and should be rescued...The vehicle has been in
4feet of water and was declared TOTAL LOSS....sad story.

Dang that sucks. I saw on Tuesday the 3rd that the East Unit in Anahuac was closed due to high water over the refuge roads in excess of 15".

Not sure if you've ever been there but there are ditches on either side of the roads. If you got off the road in high water, it could get real ugly real quick...
