Early Teal Season 2015 - 2016 (my pictures from the season)...

9-12-15

Had a pair buzz in a minute after legal and land out of range. Five minutes later they had all they could stand and had to check out the decoys. Not a good move on their part. Saw a couple of larger and smaller flocks high overhead. The only other birds that came close enough to shoot was another pair that came from behind around a mesquite tree to the left. Could not react fast enough to get a shot off. Shot a dove a bit later.

This was not the quick teal hunt that I had wanted. There was absolutely nothing flying at all. Turned into a dove hunt pretty fast.

9-19-15

Had a lone bird show up on the water a couple minutes after legal. Couldn't be sure if it was a duck or not until it quacked. It jumped and got taken out. Had a flock of twelve plus fly behind a few minutes later but they weren't interested. About 15 minutes later the same flock was seen moving around again. Saw another larger flock high off in the distance. With no ducks giving us any looks I started hunting dove. Right after shooting the first dove, I noticed a lone teal on the far end of the water. It could feel my disgust and immediately jumped and flew off. About 40 minutes later as I was watching some dove about 10 teal come crashing into the decoys to my right. We ended up dropping 8 of them. We couldn't reload fast enough as one circled us two times and flew off. Shot the second dove after finishing off a cripple to the right.

Went out this morning hoping some of the birds that we saw the day before would show up. Well, they stood me up. Turned into a quick little dove shoot. Did have a heron dang near land on a mojo.
