Will be worst than "average"

Thoughts? I have only kept records for the last 3 years-

I'm hoping it will be better than last year since we have a little more water in my area. Might have more if the el-nino weather forcasters are right.

Same story every season, I have been waiting for one of these threads and surprised the discussion is just now starting.
Always a reason or excuse every year as to why it's going to be slow year.

The ducks will migrate as usual and we will find and kill them as usual, regardless of what the weather does or how much rain we get the end result and discussion never changes.

I love these threads!

Carry on guys.

The teal showed up way late, just hope that the big ducks don't show up late!

Not really an answer, Bro- better or worst- opinion

Scouting and shooting ducks is a given- part of hunting

Well for those of us slumming it on public smirk I think this year is going to be pretty challenging. More water means more places for the birds to go, and they will pushed around a lot with the pressure. The last couple years have been easy, mudflats and low water either kept people home or if you didn't know how to hide you just didn't shoot ducks. This year, there are 6 foot tall willows everywhere that any renob can stand in and hide, and with the conditions looking good there will probably be twice as many hunters. Duck numbers are up again, so here's hoping we can find a hole away from the crowds that produce all season. I'm predicting world war 3 in the marsh opening day, and then a couple weeks of hardcore scouting to figure out where the birds go to avoid the chaos

I'm predicting an average first split with above average second. It all comes down to if you're where they want to be.

I'm predicting the opening day and week, will be the worst on record and hardly anyone will shoot anything other than coots.....my reasoning behind that prediction is that I'll be in South Dakota opening day and week and I won't even be missing much and that's what I'm choosing to believe so don't convince me otherwise. elmer

dont take it personal, Mark is a hardcore public hunter and doesnt have time for these posts, he's out scouting every morning or thinking about scouting

I don't believe I'm going to waste my time until Thanksgiving...I might make a scouting run to validate my suspicions but things are normally pretty hit/miss (aka crappy) until Thanksgiving anyway.

Its going to be terrible, every one stay at home. No reason to do any scouting or hunting until after the split. Only good duck hunting will be with a guide! happy3

I'm going stack em up like cord wood with ole Christmas and Rosewood on Matagorda bay, because we only hunt public and only with a tide and curent. If your hunting a big ole dead lake your just pond popping

how did you get Rosewood committed to hunting the bay? I thought it was in his DNA to not like water?

My gut tells me that if I get to go duck hunting and actually get a shot at a few ducks I will consider it a success. I don't have to shoot a limit every time to consider it a success or a good season. I really only hunt one spot so good, bad or ugly, I'll be out there looking skyward and blowing the S**T out of my hailing call!
