Where are the dove?

Where are the dove? - 09/21/15 12:21 PM

In East Bernard area, up til about a week ago, we had a fair amount, then notta nothing. Almost like someone sent them a memo that season was opening on Friday morning. Also, was in Goliad County this last weekend, and nothing, notta, very sparse.

Have they already moved on, or maybe they haven't totally moved through yet? Worst opening weekend I can remember in a long time. What's everyone seeing out there, and where?

Lots of limits here at the ranch Saturday. We are starting to put a dent in them though, need a northern push before too long.

We hunted southern Duval. Didn't put much effort into it. If we would have hunted around the tank it would have been hot.

Got on them Saturday AM on the Throckmorton/Young Co line.

Been skunked/few birds at spots that have been historically pretty strong in Collin, Johnson, and Hill Cos.

Drove around south Jones county yesterday afternoon right before the rains hit. In some areas, there were more than I normally see, other areas there was nothing. Went by a sunflower field that had been freshly mowed and it was empty, not a dove in sight. Our problem is too many watering holes and too many feeding places.

They are all in el campo! Friends that guide dove hunts a few miles out of town killed a little over 2300 doves Friday and Saturday. Dont think i have ever seen the whitewings that thick in town as it was this year.

They were in Brazoria county. Me and my partners got limits on Friday and on Saturday afternoons. They were flying over the plowed corn fields, and over the milo.
