had some new guests this morning (pic heavy) - 09/19/15 04:19 PM

I finished my teal limit in 4 minutes this morning, the rest of the hunt I spent taking pictures of birds. I had lots of teal come in until about 8:30. I also had a big group of Pintails land and swim around in my decoys for about 15 minutes and another big flock of spoonies did the same a few minutes later. This wetland had a total of 4 teal on it yesterday evening, a bunch of new birds showed up over night.

I've never been duck hunting except as a kid tank jumping. These pics make me want to try it someday. up

Thanks everyone up

Today was a bit slower, still a lot of birds they just chose to work the opposite side of the wetland. Managed 4 before calling it quits.

That property is gorgeous. Is it private that you were able to develop?

It's actually my buddies place, it was just a small stock tank and when we got hit with the floods at the beginning of summer it expanded into this and has held the water all year. It's about 700 yards across and about 600 yards wide. 90 percent of it is calf deep flooded vegetation. It also has a creek that goes into the pines and opens into a small pond that's absolutely loaded with woodies.

Nice. Hopefully with the wet fall/winter that's predicted it'll stay that way. That's a lot nicer to setup up a spread in than waist deep mud. Looks like it'll be tough to stay concealed though.
