Why not? Do you like good food? Do like to have a nice place to stay? Do you like shooting dove?

I like good food
I like staying at nice places when I can
I like shooting dove

Put them all together and I'd say you have a heck of weekend.

It's not something I would do all the time but I sure as heck would have a good time if someone took me.

Re: Putnam Texas Dove - 09/10/15 09:11 PM

Greystone castle

I will go back there this saturday just for the afternoon hunt (no pricy lodging/dinner this time)
They still have thousands of birds in that sunflower field. Only real foodsource within 5 mile radius helps.
I will try the new york hill restaurant in thurber right next tonthe castle entrance. They seem to have good affordable food and a ton of history. Thurber used to be the largest population between fort worth and el paso due to coalmining and bricks. All bricks built at the stockyards came from there. Population got to 10000 people with 42 different nationalities. Then the mines closed and some bikergangs took over. Now population is 4.

You are staying at a place in Thurber but hunting a property 50 miles east near Putnam?

Yes. The place in thurber has 10 doves flying around. The place in putnam over 3000 as of today, so i dont mind the extra 50 miles to mini argentina

High dollar $150, but worth every penny of it. There are so many dove that you can pick the high ones or shoot very small calibers

Thanks Beav, I looked it up and it looks amazing. Closer to DFW than I would have thought. Looks like a great place to bring the wife for a special weekend hunt. She loves castles grin
