Next year gonna hit the east coast and knock off
Eiders, black ducks, and c'mon scoters.

Jan 2017 going after king eiders.

One thing I quickly learned is that you have to take good shots. It didn't take long to learn to shoot for the head. Several hunts I went 6/6.

tell us about what load/choke you are using?

what is the effective range of these loads?

do you have a lot of cripples?

I'm shooting Winchester steel 6 's. They are 3", 3/8 oz , 1500 fps loads.

For sea ducks I shot hevishot 6's and 4's.

I shoot them out if a briley ported IM choke. You'd be shocked how hard it hits birds inside if 35 yds.

Any pics of the greater Bluebill? Did you shoot it in texas or during the sea duck hunt? Or is that the hen in the pic with the scooter and gun?

Have fun with the scoters, many a time I have patterned them and had them cartwheel, bounce off the water and take off flying. Those buggers are like armored cars. That said a good head shot will do the trick. Got to get them close with the pipe. I have hunted with one for years and they can do the job quite nicely.

Dang Todd, talk about a handicap. Good luck with the quest. I can barely hit them with a 12 after so many years away from it.

Took my 6yr old on his first duck hunt this year and we actually had a snow goose come in and land on the water in front of us. He popped it with his single shot 410. The guide finished it for him but he was very excited.
