any experience with this stuff? I was thinking of doing my M2, which is my main shotgun, cause my other is a Mossberg 500 used as a backup. It is the field model with satin wood and matte metal. Every time I tack take it to the Laguna Madre it comes back covered with new rust. I go over it with 0000 steel wool and CLP which works but some extra protection would be great. thanks

Do it.

I hunted the Laguna for a few years and it was taking its toll big time on my gun the first season, and cerakote helped tremendously. With that said, mine flaked on the corners and edges some of the receiver. Apparently that isn't typical and the guy who did it offered to make it right. It didn't bother me much and wasn't worth it to me to have it re-done.

I got just the barrel and receiver area done in flat black.

Taking your "field model" to saltwater isn't a good idea, but if you're gonna do it, add the protection to the metal.

I guided at Blue a Goose years ago. Fellow guide there named Brian had gotten a couple guns Teflon coated for guide work here and in Alaska. Not sure where it was done, but ultimate protection.

Thanks txpride, sounds good to me. The wood has a clear coat laminate on the outside that helps. But the inside of forearm isnt coated so I'll just put some linseed oil on that area. I want to make this my duck gun and get a 20ga montefeltro for quail and dove.
