Looking for a reputable Outfitter for a 2 day light goose conservation at the end of January/beginning of February in either Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Louisiana, or Oklahoma. Looking spend no more $250/day all day hunting with lodging, with an outfitter that has some birds. We are coming from southeast Texas. Looking to bring 4-6 hunters. Thanks for any recommendations

I have been hunting snows for several years. They are in one day and out in a couple days. Do yourself a favor and don't pay a guide upfront for a certain 3 day hunt. Make him put you on a waiting list and call you when the birds are in the area. If not, you will just get pizzed off probably for spending big money and not seeing crap. I understand these guys spend big money on decoys and such and need money to pay for them. It is their problem and they need to learn how to fund their own business. I see so many people come back from these hunts all ticked off because they spent $500 and killed 3 birds or less.

I am on several waiting lists and get called every year. I don't pay unless we get birds, that is my policy. Good guides understand and operate this way. A lot of good guides don't operate this way, but they can't get you birds if they are not in the area. Don't ask me what guide I am on list with because I will not tell you. You need to do your own homework and offer the same to the guides. I guarantee you that they will start calling when the birds are in the area. I have had many guides that tell me they don't operate that way. I leave them my number and low and behold, I receive calls from many of them to come down for a hunt of a lifetime.

I've not used either Guide, but you may want to check either of these folks out:

1. www.muddywateroutfitters.com

2. http://www.huntupnorth.com/

Muddy Water Outfitters, aka, MWO posts on this site.

Hunt Up North I know someone that has used his guide service and he comes recommended.

Good luck. I hope they have a date you want.

Liftedpowerstroke, I think of Cody as a deer guide, so I forgot to put him as another guide to check with. If you look, he post up alot and is also someone that comes recommended from other THF Members as a solid guide.
