Got tired of dealing will dull knifes, so I got the Havalon Piranta-Edge, want to say 2 years ago or so.

Havalon Piranta-Edge

Love it, I'm just now running out blades, came with about 10 to 20 blades, not sure how many it came with. Down to my last one. Which blade you think is best for filleting duck breast off the bone?

Piranta Replacement Blades

I'm liking the #22 scalpel blade..

Any of the blades will work better than my old pocket knife that I use lol. Those things are like razors, I'm sure any would work fine.

I use the 60 XT and can get about 9-10 ducks out of one blade before I replace it...

Yup, 60XT is all I use for birds and deer. They work great for caping out deer heads...

The 60XT is what I have been using, think I'm going to try the 22, looks like it would be better breasting out a duck breast.

I been getting a lot more ducks out of a blade than that. But that is just because I'm being cheap, I should probably stop being like that. grin

I use the 60XT as well but I get way more ducks than a dozen. I have done 180-200 on my duck piranta already

You are only picking the 22 because it's cheaper!

I like the 60XT best, but you have to be careful; the blade breaks easily. The #22 is a very common surgical blade, especially with large animal veterinarians, who usually buy them by the case. That would explain why the 22 blade is cheaper.

As you can see, you can go through 3 or 4 22s for the price of one 60. And the 22 is less likely to break. If you process a lot of animals, I'd go with the 22. If you just bone out one deer a year, it's probably not worth fretting over a few cents.

I'm going to use it just for duck, I think the 22 will be better for duck. I can see how the 60 would be better for deer. I think the 22 will be better for running down the breast bone.

I can do a lot more on one blade too, but once mine stops cutting like a freaking laser I consider it "dull" and I change it out. It's still probably sharper than 99% of the hunting and pocket knives i've used in the past

You spent a lot of time putting that together. Good work.

Just because it would take you a long time doesn't mean it would take me a long time, you big dummy.

Guy, after using Scooter's I went out and bought one. It came with the 60A.

On the package it states the replacement blades are the 60A or 60XT. Does their web site show you can use the #22?

I'll find out pretty soon, got some on order. I'm sure they will fit, knife may not close as compact.
