Lake Closed

Lake Closed - 10/27/14 03:10 PM

Just a heads up to any of you that might hunt a certain little city lake east of the metroplex - the city has shut down public access to the lake so there will be no duck hunting unless you've got access via private land. Thought I'd try to save someone a drive so they're not pulling up to locked gates.

ETA - just heard back from the police chief..no access even through private land.

Yup, been that way couple years now I think. It was my understanding you can access it via private land, but maybe just no duck hunting now?? It make no sense no access period, so no boats are allowed in the lake? I heard someone bought all the land around it then cut it off to the public. Which makes no sense to me, a public lake with no public access.. hammer

I think you are thinking of another lake. This one has been open up until this summer. A bunch of high school kids tore up the little park pretty bad, trashed it out, and I think some drug arrests were made. So the PD shut it down.

Yep. Mayor just called me - it was actually shut down for several reasons - originally the city built the ramp too close to the water intake and TCEQ got on their case..so they closed the ramp and apparently the barricades were torn down repeatedly. So they put up a metal barricade and some idiot chained up to it and ripped it out of the ground. On top of that duck hunters and fisherman had been launching boats off the bank and tearing it up. Really weren't supposed to be launching motorized boats Not to mention making deep ruts..then add the mudding and vandalism in and they decide to just shut it down.

I always hunted out of kayaks...maybe I can get an exemption confused2

Since it's shut down what would it hurt to name it? Do people not understand why not to name lakes around here? One word, pressure...if it is shut down there ain't going to be any rofl

I doubt it's Lavon. He said it was a city lake, not "city mud hole".

Then again, it wouldn't suprise me....

I've seen it..... Someone made the mistake of naming their favorite lake on a certain forum. A few weeks later, they had 50000 duck commander jackasses raping everything that flew.

Can someone please PM me with the lake name so I don't show up Saturday morning with no place to hunt? Obviously I am not smart enough to figure out what you boys are saying.

You could call the place you hunt and ask if it's still open.

White Rock Lake is never very busy and always produces good results for me.

There's some good sloughs between Mockingbird and NW Highway...strait green with woodie kickers. Don't tell anybody though. All of Dallas will be in our spot

White Rock is always solid, also the little stock tank right at the north end of the runway at Meacham Airport produces some good numbers! Just have to shoot around the incoming jets roflmao
