seriously thinking about buying a sx3, any negatives about it?

seriously thinking about buying a sx3, any negatives about it? - 10/02/14 05:04 PM

Most likely I'm going get the synthetic. I just want a new gun that I can reliability cycle dove loads, as well as duck loads. I have a benelli sbeII and it has a bulge in the barrel and after talking to benelli that said "sure, just buy one of our replacement barrels for $600. I could buy a new stoeger for that much. So looking for a new gun. Thanks for any opinions.

I have no input but a question. What happened to make the barrel buldge?

Must be a pretty decent gun..... Pretty hard to find a negative review. That's probably the best indicator of all, especially when you consider how fanatic waterfowl hunters are.

Just make sure it fits..... "It's the Indian not the arrow...."

You'll need to frame and hang the ol' 870 for prosperity sake. That cannon has killed more birds then most have seen.

Its alright, but u know im a beretta fan.

A used a391 xtrema2 is awesome.
Had mine since they first came out.
Clean it every 2 months and never had issues.

A400 i got as well, good gun, lighter, but i think the 391 is better balanced.

Not 1 bit of trouble with my SX3.

Never had a problem with mine, and I am terribly hard on it. Clean it once a year and it still cycles the cheapest of the dove loads. My wife's Xtrema 2 can't do that without getting cleaned every other hunt, and it still occasionally hangs up.

I have 2 friends that own them, and they love the guns.
They hunt with us most weekends, and haven't heard of a single complaint.

Bought my Fiancé one two years ago. It probably has 1500 rounds through it, mostly target loads. Never had a FTF or FTE. Probably cleaned a total of twice. I snag it all the time since it's a blast to shoot. Same guts as the Browning Maxus which I also shoot and love. I would highly endorse it.

I have had mine for 3 years. Let me start by saying I am not easy on my gun. I hunt it hard from dove season till the end of waterfowl, and only clean it maybe twice the whole year. This summer I went to shoot some clays and mine had quit cycling the light target loads. I had to send it in to be fixed for a broken spring in the recoil gas piston. Only problem I have ever had and I will say they handled it quickly and fixed it no questions asked. I love mine shoots great and other than that one problem has always gone bang.

Love my sx3 and have had no issues with it. Never really cared to mess with fitting a gun to me until I got the sx3 and started exchanging the included shims on it. Before I always just made the adjustment with the gun or my head, now when I shoulder it im looking right down the pipe and already where i need and want to be. Its makes a difference. Best semi auto out there for under 1k in opinion.

I have the Browning silver hunter and it's basically the same gun internally. I've had it for 8 years with no issues.

I think the sx3 is one of the best bargains to be had on shotguns

Id wager that my sx3 would run right beside a Benelli for however many rounds you'd like without a hiccup

.....well here is what I know, last year before dove season I get the benelli out to clean it and as I run my hand down the barrel feel the bulge and my heart sinks. I call benelli and they say you must have had a wad get stuck (bulge is in the middle of the barrel) and shot behind it then creating the bulge. So I ask what can you do for me? Nothing special, just a replacement barrel for retail price. Or I can go after the ammunition company. But I didn't want to do that, my feelings are that benelli should take care of the problem. After this experience I don't think I'll get or recommend a benelli again. Just my 2 cents, other people may love their benelli but honestly They aren't that reliable, especially with the light dove loads. They kick pretty hard, the Beretta w/kickoff kicks half as much as my benelli. So that's why I'm looking for a different gun.

I have one that's been dumped in the red a number of times and still worked fine if that tells you anything.
