Calling rob Robertson or any other o/ u gurus. - 09/26/14 11:57 PM

I have hunted with a great friend in the Netherlands the last two years. Last year I got a phenomenal opportunity to buy a 1962 b-25 custom shop gun from one of the older Dutchmen that we hunted with. This year we stumbled into this gun in a small shop in Belgium. It's an unfinished 1970 FN o/u. The owner had he bought from fn in 1970. He is personal friends with Robert baptiste who is listed as a master engraver. He said if I bought it that I could meet with Robert and have any level of engraving done that I wanted. How do you put a price tag on this gun. I think in going to buy it but have no clue of a value. Also I've never seen the split forearm.

The serial # is 46348-s5 if anyone can run it for me?

Not knowing the wear or use history, will assume it is has never been fired.
For a this gun with midas+ grade wood and even standard "excellent" grade engraving gets it to the $4000 range. Never priced one with no engraving.
Engraving however is a huge part of the price. Very high end engraving work can send this over $10,000 easily.
I'm not familiar with this particular year model so there could be some "collectability" aspect that sends the price higher.

I think I'd get a quote for the engraving you want to have done and then work back from there to determine the base gun price.

Gun is boxed up and waiting for me to pick a pattern. I'm leaning toward something like this but with different bird styles. Also without the gold flowers.

I'm leaning toward a duck lever or maybe a cut out.
