New Hunter Needing Good Lake Advice - 10/04/13 03:28 AM

So I started hunting ducks last year, and I'm hooked. I found a really nice spot on Ray Roberts, but I'm looking for more. I'm not asking people to reveal your hunting locations to me; I just want to know what lakes are worth my while to scout out. I live in Crowley (20 min South of Fort Worth), and I am willing to drive an hour or two. I just picked up a boat for this season, and i hope to have a dog for next. Any advice would be awesome!

Not to many people here are going to even tell you what lake to scout!

It's all about window time buddy!!

Basically ever lake to your west can be hunted. Additionally, there are ducks on all of them. Pick one to scout and see what you find. And yes many are already mad you mentioned ray bob.

Don't ask for the names of good lakes to hunt.. Use the sticky that John put at the top of this forum to identify the huntable lakes near you & go scout 'em.. Much more rewarding when you kill your first limit!

Well, I guess it would have been smart to check that out before even asking. Lol I'm not sure how I overlooked that....a little slow I guess!

You can hunt with me. I can't shoot, but I'm not a rookie. This will be my first time hunting much public land in this area, so I might look like one, though. Fire me a PM if you want to go scout with me. I don't hunt Ray Bob, though. Too damn many bass fishermen. :-)

Cuz it's the most hunted lake in TX. Send all the internet scouters there to keep them off where we are actually hunting.

And Rooster you missed one I plan on hunting a lot this year... peep

In most cases you can kill more ducks on a public lake you spend time scouting yet find has a low duck population than you can hunting on a public lake known for a high duck population that you did not put time in scouting on.

I'm not a fan of guys watching duck dynasty coming on here asking where to go hunt with their white yeti coolers, but he got shot down in flames. That being said, I need some GPS coordinates to a great spot where I can take an orphan to go hunt some ducks. I promise I won't tell anyone.
