I didn't torch the wood but, I scraped it with a screwdriver and hit it with my great-grandpa's huge turnbuckle to dent it up.
The guy that owned it before us bought it for his sister and brother-in-law. His friend, who does tile work in $1M homes in New Mexico and California did the tile. (my house is nowhere near $1M). The guy's sister and brother in law split a month after all the work was finished and he sold it to us for less than he had in it to get out of it. New hot water, AC, pipes, floors, counters, cabinets, etc.
