Divers from today - 02/18/13 09:28 PM

Snuck over to a pond that had some birds on it! Was within
30-40 yards for a little while before I spooked them for some action shots.

Nice variety of birds

The taxidermist in me comes out with pics like this. Scratching my head in how you would make a bird as flat and wide as the widg in the last pic.

I am sitting here eating the last of my mallard meat from the season (yes the last of it...it was a sh** season), and remembering why i love divers more than any others.

I wondered why it looks flat too. Not quite the silhouette that decoys have...

Thanks guys!

I took about 75 pictures while watching these birds. When I crawled over the dam, almost all the birds were sleeping. Most of the birds were flat like that Widgeon is. I've seen them like that a lot when they're sleeping on the water or relaxed on calm water.

Still have about 25+ Canada's on my property everyday. and 20-50 ducks depending on the day.

Was about 200+ for a while, but they have moved north.

Let me know if you want to run over here one morning and get some pictures! smile

Or moved south. Friday afternoon saw 700+ of just about everything. Went out today- missed first light by 15, saw a few hundred by 7.

Unbelievable. Trying to download pics from photobucket and video, distorted...........they are stacked up on big water
