addicted 2 quack, and havin withdrawals! - 01/08/12 02:50 PM

I have left the family path and fell completely into duck hunt in. Went first time open in day last year and left my year of work at deer lease to keep on goin. Have since got equipment and decoys were my Xmas this year. Even with a horrible year I been goin it alone trying to find some real action on pines and have threw in the towel. Obviously the lake is way over hunted and ducks aren't as spread out. I live 10 mins from the lake so I keep tryinandscoutn but always less than pleased. Didn't get type 2 cuz didn't plan in hunt in so much but now its a battle with myself to get a limit of good ducks. Any around here or wright patman, east Tex period wanna partner I,d be good help and appreciate a closed mouth. Just manycontenders round here. And I have knowknwedgeof lakes outside of bass fishing aside from pines and gilmer.

Sorry about all typos using a tablet. Still foggy as heck and I know there are tourneys on lake guess I can sell out and go hunt divers. Not even seein groups of puddlers fly in out on main lake anymore. 1st morning I stayed home in a week. Just to frustratin I quit smoking a week ago and I stopped and bought a pack after yesterdays getn skunked. Still love it though. Insanity.

I love it and majority of problem is the area I'm hunting. Just burnt out on getn up and doin all the prep work and then see in squat. But I'd still rather hunt with a buddy and BS if not in else than sit in a tree for hours free in and not moving and not see anything. And when them ducks do committee and come on in locked up, man its pure pleasure. I'll be well prepared next year. I been thru a spell of lack of work so been goin alot when able and its been tough. Fix to be on a job in another week or 2 so trying. Hard to get on some action.

Stick with it. Just have to write this year off to weather, lack of water ect.. I hunt private not far from LOP and its the same. Finally got water with a few ducks but in the last three weeks its been slim to nothing. Just no weather up north pushing anything down. This time last year we had two snows and multiple hard arctic fronts. Bugs and snakes were out this weekend!

I fill your pain! Sounds like my story. It's just a matter of time what don't kill you just makes you stonger. We'll both go into next season with more knowledge than we started with this year.Wished I could P.M you with some great information but I have none to give.Maybe next season when were both smarter we can hunt together.Good luck

Well glad to know its more than just my luck. Been taking my stepson some and drug him scout in today. Walked over 10 miles altogether and used some sattelite maps to find sloughs actually found a few ducks but that don't mean nothing. Done it more than once and zeroed the following morning. I'll be stick in with it though. I'm unable to quit. Wish I'd have went this morning know in the odds. Suspense and frustration.

I think its the same story for a lot of us. This was my first year to duck hunt and I don't think I could have picked a worse time, but it is still the most fun I've had in a long time!

Sure hope so I'll be better prepared and always willing to have company provided u don't claim my kills. Lmao. That's when it gets fun when there's enough to worry about who shot which ducks. My 11 yr old stepson claims ever duck that falls. Gotta love it.

Its a xoom I think. It was a x mas gift for "us" from my old lady. Really hers but its useful when I need to look up stuff like maps and info or online stores for deals haha. It won't be ours if I try to take it anywhere in my truck. Haha

I was thinking that was the worst word usage ever. This season hasnt been bad just have to find the right water just wait til the lakes are at normal level and birds have 100 spots to choose from it gets real intersting then have to scout and really work now with the water low you know where they will be

Normal level was easy hunt in last year. I have yet to see groups like last year but I've only been hunting pines cuz its close and didn't get type 2. Didn't plan on hunting as much.
