Centex Teal 24 Sep 11 - 09/24/11 05:02 PM

Deckhand, Dude, Tuit and I hit the road early this morning in search of success on our first teal hunt of the year. No scouting, just show up, set up and hope they show...

Deckhand threw out the deeks, to include the motion butts, which one lost its top, the other sank roflmao

Little man ready to go

Just after LST we had a nice flight buzz the spread 4ft off the deck twice without commiting, I was taking them on the third trip, but they went on their merry way. After that we had a pair come thru, neither left.

Throughout the morning we had several missed opportunities and should have been done by 730, but things just didn't work out that way.

Deckhand let a bird dang near land on him, and then that sucker didn't want to flush! Tuit got her chance to chase a wounded one, and won

Once we figured we wouldn't see any more birds, we called it quits..and three more dumped in on us. Unfortunatly, all three just flew out faster than they came in!

Deckhand admiring the birds

me showing dude how to place the birds on the strap

Dude figuring it out with a little help from HIS dog

DWADR in full swing

Yes there was a "scouting report". rofl Land owner/co-worker told me Wed. that 4 ducks with skinny necks dropped in when he was leaving the house to come to work. I love how deer/elk hunters describe waterfowl. If that is not scouting then I have no idea how to blow a duck call scared . Not bad for a barney hunt partyon555. Still tossing dekes and setting up layouts LST +5min. Thanks for driving TB!

Hey TB my lead of the bird is just fine. The dumb one that I had to throw dirt clods at to fly I knew it might be pre-tenderized. The other one was just a solid hit. I just whack'um, face, wing.body,or arse makes no difference as long as it ends with a splash. slinger

np, we almost turned around when they did rifle

One thing I forgot to mention about yesterday. A few birds came rolling in and I'm waiting on DH to crack one first, and all I hear is "click"......seems someone forgot to reload grin

Setup this morning with time to enjoy the sky getting bright. 4 minutes after LST, in comes our one and ONLY customer of the day. Lands 10yds from DH, on my (I can't shoot side). two shots later, the bird safely clears the berm and goes on his merry way.

Still a great day, but we are tired.
