Hows your lake holding up?????? - 08/13/11 02:12 AM

I've been watching the water level on the Barney, it is 8.5 feet low and is loosing about 6 inches a week to pumping and evaporation.....If we don't see some rain soon its going to be walk in only and maybe a long walk at that......

I live on Cedar Creek Lake and this morning, there were cows grazing under the boat dock across the cove from me.

Well, on public spot X, there once was an island that could be seen about 200 or 300 yards from the shore, it is now my understanding you could drive your wife's car to it.

I guess now that it isn't surrounded by water, you really can't call it an island.

Might drive out there and get some pics this weekend.

It's about like it was during Teal season two years ago. Low, low, low.

Low but as long as I can get on the water we will kill birds.May be in the 12' with the 6 horse instead of the 16' with the 25 and cramped for room but we'll make it work.If the water level would just get back to were it was last season I'll be happy. up

Got a slow soaking rain here all night and still going. We need that to get some run off later on some bigger rains......
I have seen this weather pattern before and the last time it happened; once it started raining, it didn't stop and we had major flooding the following winter into spring......

Will send it down here, don't be greedy!

Yea, I sure hope were getting out of this perminate upper level high.

Local news was pulling the historical weather temps, and it looks like by the 2nd week in Sept we leave the triple digit temps behind.

Out on X when the water is low it becomes very competative, I hope we get 10" between now and November....

Took my boat out to the Barney yesterday to make sure it was going to run right. There are very limited hunting "spots" with the levels low. Hope we get another 10" of rain before nov gets here.

The way I have it figured if we don't get any rain with major run off between now and then and the rate of decline continues it will be some where around 14 feet low. The last time we had a drought it reached 13 feet and change, low. The main boat ramp every one uses for duck hunting was over a mile from the water and the rest weren't that far but high a dry as well. It will be walk in only. I say that and some folks drove out on the lake and put their boats in to fish at the ramp on the south end of the dam. You could do that but you have to run the full length of the lake and if the wind is blowing I'd highly advise not trying that in a duck boat. The Barney takes no prisoners....

Man I went out to a lake close to my house. I wanted to see how hard it was going to be to launch my boat for Teal season. Well I can't launch my boat much less a canoe. I am hoping to go check out another lake later this afternoon. I dont know what I am going to do for teal season.
