I see $15 a bag very soon. Corn & protein are both ridiculous these days. Gas will be a giant hurdle for the foreseeable future.

I filled all my corn feeders with protein. $.75 a bag difference.

Are the deer protein conditioned, or is it piling up under the feeder?

Most of our deer won't eat it off the ground.

Ours do. We feed 50/50 from the broadcast feeders most years anyway.

Protein will be cheaper than corn come October. I see $15/50lbs corn easier happening this year!
For the first time I’m glad to not be leasing and only going on meat hunts with good folks!

Doesn’t matter we will just keep on buying and feeding it

I get silage in bulk so no bag prices for me. Both hogs and deer can't get enough of it. Bagged will probably be 14-15 bucks by deer season.

It will not surprise me if it is $14-$15 for 50 lbs by Sept but it will piss me off. It was already $12 for 50 lbs in April.

I use Indian Corn. It's a lot cheaper and the deer love it!

Re: Deer corn prices this year - 06/09/22 02:41 PM

In the past I've bought it in bulk straight out of the combine. PITA to clean and bag it, but it's less than half the cost of store bought. I may do it again this year.

I'm looking for a truckload of bulk delivered to Mills county; I have a tractor and auger to get it in the bin.

Basically says corn futures are roughly steady with the current price. What it doesn't factor is increases in bag prices, labor, and diesel. But if this holds and those other factors ease a bit or stop increasing, corn will be $10-12 this fall.

Buccee's in New Braunfels is at $9.98.

Buc-ee's in Temple is at $9.98.

PSA- don't ever go in there on a weekend afternoon. Took me 25 minutes to finally get in there, find an open pump, use the bathroom without buying anything inside, and then finally get back on 35. Total PITA.

It's the gas prices that have me more concerned than corn prices...my feeders will run for weeks, but my F150 V8 4x4 don't...and by the fall it is going to cost over $200 to fill up that 35 gallon tank frown F'N Joe Biden and everyone that voted for that idiot.

People want to kill a deer real bad. I'll hunt under the oak trees or wheat fields or stay home, not worth it and have hunted for years with out feeding.

What are you saying? People should actually try too actually hunt.

A planted wheat field is exactly how the cave men did it.

If I had wheat fields to hunt, I wouldn't bother with a feeder either. Try hunting in an East Texas Pine thicket without a corn feeder, good luck.

Will continue to buy corn, may feed less. May buy bulk.

Wheat fields are normally for cattle grazing

'll just turn down my run times a bit next time at the lease. Unfortunately, my protein feeder is gravity fed.

Re: Deer corn prices this year - 06/12/22 01:19 PM

I did both wheat and barrel feeders for years. Then the hogs moved in and just About destroyed the wheat. They generally beat the deer to the feeders. This year I’m going to use hanging PVC feeders, probably 4 to 6 inch. I’ll probably still fill my 5 barrel feeders but only toss for one second. If they show up too late, the hanging pipes will still be there within about 10 ft from the barrel feeders.

I’m cross posting, but I paid $15.79 per 50 lbs yesterday at Tractor Supply in De Queen Arkansas.
