When should I burn?

We aquired a piece of land in October and it hasn’t been grazed or mowed in around 10 years. We had an abundance of silverleaf sunflowers that choked out almost everything else. I was originally thinking of burning in the spring (now) but we have quite a few wildflowers popping up which we don’t want to hurt for next year.

When is a good time to burn and not hurt next years wildflower crop? Late spring after they’ve gone to seed?

I would contact my county agriculture office to see what they suggest depending on the location of the land.

This. We've always burned right after deer season. Probably too late now, unless you want to kill the wildflowers.
