What to plant next spring? and when?

Place I'm hunting is high-fenced in on all 4 sides (by the neighbors). The landowner has been feeding them the last few years. Deer are healthy but too many. Landowner is thinking of planting something that is a perennial so he doesn't have to plant every year and it would give the deer something to eat besides his pocket book.
So, what could he plant and when should it be planted?
Land is in McCulloch county near Melvin.

If he has to many deer anything he plants that is not fenced or protected will be eaten before it has a chance to establish.

Exactly.

His best shot at a four to six year plot would be a mix of one of the varieties of white clover and Chicory, if he can get them established.

Talk to Jay at Turner Seed in Breckenridge. They have spring and fall plot seed mixes. They have been in the business decades and can tell you what you need to know.

Thanks everyone. We're working on dropping the # of mouths and know it won't get done in a year's time but, we are trying. Just trying to save him the feed money if only for part of the year. Was wondering how turnips would do? No pigs on the place (yet) and from my experience with them in the midwest, the deer didn't touch them until after the first frost.
