Is it too late too Sow

We have land in Archer County.
We invested a lot of time clearing and dragging a chisel plow breaking up the ground
to get it ready too sow our wheat fields about 10 acres. We have purchased the wheat seed, fertilizer
a new spreader for our over worked Ford 2910 in hopes of planting the last weekend of October.
With all the rain we haven't been able to get back in the fields to sow. Last year we planted too Early and the
Army worms got it all so we decided to wait this year. We are new to the farming aspect of managing the deer.
So any advise would be appreciated.

I'm in Clay County and I'm in the same boat.
Had everything ready to go and then the army worms hit so I held off planting. Then in October I got 12 acres planted by working all day on a Friday because they were predicting rain Saturday. Finished planting and dragging in the wheat around midnight.
Then at 2 am the rain started.
Since then, it's been a muddy mess in the rest of the fields. I still have 600 pounds of wheat and 600 pounds of oats that needs to go out.
I plan to try and get it in the drier parts of the fields this weekend and hope for the best. If it doesn't come up this year, maybe there will be a good "volunteer" stand next year.

I'm no expert but this is what I found and you are only two weeks later than the date he gives:

if you can get it in just in front of a rain... i would go ahead and spread seed oats.

I’m planting today. This will be an interesting experiment. Overheard one of the local wheat farmers at the feed store yesterday- he was saying he’s still planting.

Thanks for asking this question. The same thing has happen to us in Knox Co. regarding to wet to plant. After talking to my farmer looks like we are going to skip planting wheat for grazing this year. But I am going to try and plant 2 food plots this week in hopes they will germinate and we can hunt them late season.

North Ranches if I had a cow calf operation I would do it but for gain cattle I don't know if its worth it. What type of operation do you have?

Yep. Never too late to plant. It should come up in about a week if you have adequate ground moisture. You'll have deer on it soon thereafter.
