This bruiser was in one of our traps this morning. He was a very unhappy camper. My son showed him the way to piggy heaven. As I mentioned in an earlier thread, when I get a big 'un in a trap, I don't walk up to the trap and execute with a handgun. The big boys really get crazy with a close human approach and can do major damage to the trap. I just ease up on the trap site, and if there's a large hog in it, I use a rifle, from afar, to take some of the nastiness out of it. If a finishing shot is required, I'll administer it up close and personal with a handgun; generally using my Judge and a 45 Colt to the ear hole or eye socket.

cheers Well done! I remember your guidance and will adhere to it, if I finally get a big boar in a small trap. They mock me. realmad

What's that block in the front corner of the trap?

Creekrunner, that's a deer block that the deer had been ignoring, so I tossed it into the hog trap, with a half gallon of corn. This big boar pushed the block all around the trap. He completely destroyed my trigger mechanism, so I'll be rebuilding it. The large hogs can do a lot of damage even when they're not being approached by a person!
