Two shots, four hogs! - 10/09/20 09:38 PM
Snuck out to the ranch yesterday afternoon for a quick hog hunt with my neighbor and a good friend. A little after six PM, the three deer I'd been watching at the feeder all looked up the hill in alarm and I thought they'd spotted me. Then I heard a grunt right under the blind and see a small sounder come in. One young boar, one old sow, and a half dozen piglets. After some quick deliberation, I decided to shoot the boar. Shot hit him right behind the ear and dropped him next to the feeder. All the piglets ran and "hid" behind a bush all clumped together, but I could see them and decided to take another shot. From the blind, I thought I'd killed the boar and a piglet but when I went down to the feeder, I realized the first shot had also taken out a piglet that was behind the boar and that my second shot had taken out TWO piglets! Felt pretty happy about it, the boar is a good eating size, the piglets became coyote bait.
