One at a time, it’s all I can do.

One at a time, it’s all I can do. - 03/10/20 12:49 AM

I just knew this afternoon was perfect for hogs. Of course the fact that hogs are digging up the woods and visiting the feeder religiously might have been my real clue. So I got in the blind, the feeder went off shortly after, and hogs showed up. Probably 8 or 10, all the same size of about 80 pounds. So I shot one. Just one was all the time I had. No stinking way I can control the hogs if I kill em one at a time. I need to call in artillery.

Oh well, a fellow needs a hobby in retirement.

A fellow does indeed need a hobby in retirement. Keep enjoying yours.

They'll be back …

1 a day is a pretty good goal...

One is better than none... especially if it's a sow.

One is the loneliest number... Give the dead hog a dead friend

Research shows we would have to eliminate 70% of a group at any point of abatement opportunity. So, to keep up with that ratio you would have needed to kill 5.5 pigs at your point of contact. A seemingly impossible feat indeed.

I've heard that before and believe it.

"Two can be as bad as one...It's the loneliest number since the number one"

At least your trying thats more than some of us can say. Onea day keeps the gun in good working order.

Every 1 anybody takes is 1 less.

I know how you feel - sometimes seems pointless but then I look at my rooted up fields as I drive thru them and I just keep going.
My yearly average over the last 12 years is 60 but slipped last year to 18.
Trying for comeback with 11 already this year though.
To do retirement right at my ranch takes lots of work but I still squeeze in all the hog hunting I can!

1 a day is enough.

Use a stout bullet and try to line a few up before you shoot. You can take out multiple hogs with a partition, TTSX. etc.. with the right angle if they are clustered.

I “doubled” on hogs several times some years ago. I was using my 270 back then. Haven’t had a good chance for a double here, at least not with just the one bullet.

Just heading to the stand now.

I wish I could get out and kill one a day. Good way to spend some retirement time to me.
