White Hog - 12/10/19 03:10 PM

Who has ever seen an all white pig before? I got done doing some work at one of the places I manage last night and on the way out I saw group of pigs and one white one. It could be a light blonde color but had now dark spots. Hope to go out and find it again eventually and get some good pictures of it after I shoot him.

We've taken some that look kind of like Hampshire hogs but with more white on them than black.

This thing is solid white not a smidge of black on him. He’s doesn’t have the body like he is a domestic that turned got loose or even a half domestic half feral mix. I think he just got a unique color at birth.

I haven't (yet) across a fully white hog...but we have light yellow/blonde colored ones that are one color. Fairly rare...but we have those where I am.

Not bright shiny white, but one of the lightest colored hogs I've come across. 220 pounds, the one on the ground came to 290 pounds. Funny story behind them. Eight or nine years ago these two plus a bunch of others came out on a wheat field just as the last light of day was fading. I was in a deer blind about 200 yards away, and shot the bigger one with my 300 WM. At the shot it and the whole sounder took off, eventually crossing a county road--at the same time that a pickup drove by, smacking one on the pigs--and drove on. When we (Pig Popper and I) went out to search, we found the one I shot plus the white "road killed" one.

I just want to add that White colored hogs do not smell any better than ordinary color patterned hogs.

That light colored hog reaked of death before assuming the role

White could be Yorkshire or Landrace domestic hogs. maybe mix with feral.

Shot this one last week, we've got a few light ones. They really give the sounder away, easy to spot. I should stop shooting them.
