Finally got one with my 300BO

I've had a 300BO for about 4 years and never had an opportunity to shoot a pig with it. Saturday morning the opportunity presented itself. The plan was for my son to shoot any pigs that showed up but a group of 7-8 trotted past us with their head down and never looked up so I didn't have time to get him set up on them. I was able to shoot the last one just before he disappeared down the hill. He dropped hard and never moved again.

That afternoon a sounder moved in on my feeder with about 5 minutes of shooting light left and we had time to get my son set up. It took him a bit to get situated, then his heart was pounding so hard he couldn't steady his aim. We backed off, took a few deep breaths and before he got back on the gun I asked if he wanted me to do it and he emphatically told me no, that he was going to do it. He got back on the gun and squeezed one off. All of the pigs scattered. We waited about 20 minutes then headed won to search, didn't find any blood or dead pigs. Looked again the next morning to no avail. He was a bit upset and disappointed in himself, but I explained that it happens to anyone and everyone, we just need to practice more. Hopefully he gets another opportunity Thanksgiving weekend.
