Couple killed/couple lost

Couple killed/couple lost - 07/23/19 09:55 PM

I managed to kill a couple hogs this morning with the 224v but I was shooting at a running line of them and had a few more get away. A new place where the brush is thick and couldn't find the ones that were hit. First one I shot was in the forehead, then the rest took off running. I need practice on running shots, they move faster than it seems! [Linked Image]

We all need to practice more on running shots. It isn't that they are moving faster, but that we are slowing down!

Well done. up I hit one last week and they all started running toward me, angling to the right. I tried to lead and swing through, but I shot over it. bang I did learn that I have way better muscle memory, i.e. faster, with Dad's Marlin 336 than I do with a bolt. Those 336s just point better. 'Gotta get my black rifle dialed in and commence to layin' 'em down.

I’m always amazed at how much of a lead is needed when hogs and coyotes are haulin’ the mail. up

Indeed, it seems like half the running hogs I hit get a bullet in the butt.
I too, obviously, need more practice!

As I read this I imagined myself in your shoes.

My post would have something more along the lines of "smoked 2 on the run!"

You busted two hogs on the run!

And maybe more right? These are just the ones you could recover...
