Called in a pig Sat night - 06/09/19 11:15 PM
For the first time, we set up to call for pigs at night. We ended up getting a boar about 20-30 minutes into the hunt about 2:30 am. We set up in an elevated box blind and set the speaker below us. I turned on the call and tried several different sounds. One of the sow calls pulled in a boar. He came running in towards us and froze up about 30 yards away in front of us behind a cedar tree. He stayed there for about 7-8 minutes. We thought he might have slipped away somehow, but I saw a glimpse of heat in my thermal scope through the tree and knew he was still there. He finally decided to take off running away from us. I said get him, we both unloaded on him. My AR-15 in 224 Valkrie and my buddies AR-10 in 7-08 went to work. He dropped right after we both shot. I am now addicted to calling in pigs. This worked like a charm in an area where we have pigs. I'll be going pig hunting at night again with calls!
AR-10 in 7-08 shooting my ammo with 162 ELD-X suppressed with FLIR PTS 223 thermal scope
My rifle AR-15 in 224 Valkrie with 75 grain ELD-M suppressed, with Pulsar XP38 Trail thermal scope
The calls we used were the Wild hog pro app played on a large ION Pathfinder speaker. The speaker sounded great with good feel and sound.
