I don’t think most people are willing to pay money to shoot a javelina.

I have an offer to hunt them for free from a good friend and don’t have the time to go...

When I went to chap after being picked for a javi hunt I decided I wasnt going to shoot one of those nasty things. I will pass on javi's. Give me a good ole hog anyday though! I love those piggies!!!

'Killed a few the last few years. Very cool bleached-out skulls and I have one shoulder mount. (Snarling, open mouth, of course.) Every Texan should have one. up

Good luck on your hunt. ( Ignore the poo-pooer. )

Used to bowhunt them (traditional) every year. In my opinion they are tailor made for the archery enthusiast.

Would hate to get bitten by one, even the small ones have the hardware to mess you up.

Thankfully, they are not at all aggressive if they haven't been fed around a house, are not wounded and you don't have a dog with you.

We are probably going to do the Texas Shoot Out in 2020. It's the last year they are holding it.

Other than mounting one on the wall, what the heck would a guy want to do with a Javelina carcass? I sure wouldn't want to try eating one ! I picked up this little gal night before last and sure would rather something like this than a nasty little Javalina !

Javelina of course do not compete with Feral Hog for table fare. I've had Javelina on several occasions (backstraps) and it is palatable. Many folks ruin the meat during the harvesting/processing part of it and then claim it unfit.

Still....I readily concede it is nothing like feral hog....which can be excellent.

It just dawned on me that I've probably eaten more Javalina than I have Feral Hog. Eaten it several different way and haven't found one I don't like and yes you can screw up the meat before you ever get it in the truck. Be careful with the blade and have lot's of water, keep it rinsed off.

I am kinda curious about the little buggers. Don't know about paying to hunt them tho.
