Anyone using a Bullpup as their hog rifle?

Anyone using a Bullpup as their hog rifle? - 09/05/18 09:36 PM

My suppressor finally came in a few weeks ago for my RFB and I'm now sighted up and ready to give it a try here in the next couple weeks. Anyone else shooting a Bullpup as your primary hog rifle? The RFB is over a foot shorter than my M&P, the barrel is actually 2" longer than the M&P, weight is about the same (about a pound less) but it certainly feels smaller/lighter. It is definitely easier to use riding in the Pioneer. Will be interesting to see how we swing on a tripod shooting.

I held an Aussie Bullpup in Afghanistan and didn’t like the feel at all. Nice looking setup though.

Gotta be weird slapping in a new mag. Nice looking.

How do you like the rifle? I bought an aug a couple years ago, but never could get used to the feel of it . How do you like the griffin?

The strangest thing to get used to with this rifle is having the empty casings fall out of the front vs flying out of the side. smile

The only real practical experience I have with suppressors are with the Griffin and my Cyclone. The Griffin is half the weight of the Cyclone, shorter, a bit fatter and quieter than the Cyclone as well. It's a great fit for use on the RFB. I did get it as a direct thread.

Nice setup, let's see some video of it in action! I been looking at these with the same idea of a good truck gun. Something that can be brought up quickly for a shot on a coyote.

What’s the verdict on the new rifle? Haven’t heard back since you put the pictures up originally.

Haven't been able to go yet... work, life and rain keep getting in the way. Was planning to go this weekend, looks like rain. frown

Well I hate that for you. Bright side is you’ve got a job , and a life. Hopefully you get to shoot some pigs in the face with your new rig soon

It works! smile

Nothing special young boar, though he did have that razorback hairline down his back that is neat to see. Rained all around me yesterday with only sprinkles on me, but it was the hottest 80'ish and most humidified evening I've been out in and the mosquitoes were out in force! I called it a night early.

On the rifle itself, it is so much easier to manage than the M&P riding and walking, given it's a good bit shorter. You can also hold it up in a shooting position very comfortably as it doesn't become a lever on you.

It was only one night, but I'm sold on it.

While no doubt shorter than the AR style

Is there anyway to get the scope lower to the stock for a “standard” cheek weld ?

It seems to me that getting comfortable behind a scope on a bull pup is a bit of work ...

It's actually sitting on about a .75" riser, so it can go lower. I like it higher so it's easier to scan with, my 45' Red Dot fits and the battery you can't really see, fits in there too.

Other than the stock not being adjustable, it's no different than any other rifle. Other than the action, everything is in the same place.

Is your griffin a DT or use their taper mount? Curious how the tm holds up to a mag dump

Nice setup. I had an Aug that had a full auto trigger pack and loved how it handled compared to the other full autos I had.

Midway,

It's a direct thread.

What made you pick that particular can? Not second guessing, just curious why folks choos what they do . I like griffin, even though the cool kids don’t give them credit. Assume short can fit the rifle/buggy situation? Or something else? Seen you had AAC before . Not happy? Or just wanted different?

When I bought the AAC Cyclone, I didn't know anything about suppressors and bought it because the Silencer Shop guy I happened to be talking to said it was good and cheap. Well... since then I've learned a little. Weight is important and weight is important! smile That Cyclone weighs almost 2lbs I think and having it hanging off the end of the M&P, it turns the rifle into a big lever. It's really tough to hold in a shooting position for any length of time given the weight, but I could just be a big pu$$y too according to my lease buds. smile

This time I made a decision to get something under $1,000, under 1lb, lower db than the Cyclone, shorter than the Cyclone, direct thread and a name that had some good feedback behind it. All that lead me to select my Griffin. I'm very happy with it after maybe 20 rounds through it. The RFB/Griffin couldn't be a better buggy gun IMHO. The Cyclone will continue to live on my M&P.
