19 Hogs Down Friday Night

Dave had a couple of his buddies over to hunt and I got to tag along. Both guys were hunters, but neither had hog hunted or hunted at night before, much less with thermal. We started off with a brief orientation on how the gear works, countdowns, shot discipline, etc. and headed out to hunt. It was chilly and there was a decent breeze most of the night, but that just made for good hunting. Having access to a lot of wheat fields also helped quite a bit.

Great shooting. Always amazes me when they drop and then get up and run.

That hog that got back up was a surprise. He initially hit the ground so hard it looked like he bounced!

So that explains the looong lead ! I've wondered about that as I don't lead them nearly as much with my NV. I'm usually closer too.

NV has lag as well. Distance and speed explain the long lead.
