Persistence Pays Off

Persistence Pays Off - 10/21/17 02:04 PM

Thursday night was a difficult night. We had four of us group hunting several properties, gone from place to place throughout the night. It started off well, getting on a coyote in a cattle pasture, but a questionable shot and the coyote escaped, possible unscathed. A couple hours later, we saw a huge sounder of hogs while crossing a property, but they were down wind of us and so we kept driving so that we could circle around and come in behind them. Last we saw those 50 or 60 hogs, they were happily rooting up a barnyard, but they were gone after we circled around a few minutes later. Not wanting to miss out on such a big group, we tried to reason which way they would have gone and ended up searching in several directions with no luck, save for spying a hog about 1000 yards out that also disappeared on us before we could get to it.

FINALLY, we came across a hog without the superpower of disappearance, made a good stalk, and with three shooters put three shots into him simultaneously...

Neck, soulder, lungs that boar didn't stand a chance. Good shooting

Yeah, that hog was going to be dead, so the only question was where. I would like to think the neck shot did significant CNS damage and would have anchored the hog. Mike #2 and I just provided simultaneous backup shots, LOL.

That was some fine synchronized shooting.
