They Get Knocked Down, But They Get Up Again

They Get Knocked Down, But They Get Up Again - 09/11/17 09:35 PM

This was my first hunt with my new 6.8 rifle. Stopped in this pasture for 10 minutes to scan around for a bit and see if anything would show up. And show up they did. Got plenty of hits in this melee but only recovered a handful of them. Two of them crossed the fence onto another property. I could hear them but couldn't see them in the thick brush.

Almost forgot to snap a picture before I left. I'd already taken the backstraps out of the one in the back of the picture.

You might be on to something. I didn't spread the tripod legs out far enough so it didn't stay stable/on all 3 legs while pivoting. And I was pumped up on adrenaline due to not hunting for over a month which made aiming even more difficult. I just moved down from a bigger gun (AR10) due to the weight, so it looks like I'll be practicing my aim (on live targets!)

Welcome to the forum.

Great video and hey there are four less hogs.

Not bad at all! I heard a number of hits, so there are surely more than four hogs no longer roaming that area.

Keep After 'Em !!

Good job. You definitely put the hurt on them.

Good shooting, you sure were milking that battery too!

I say good shooting! It's harder than it looks watching the videos. I tend to work over the ones I know I have hit to keep them down though I seldom even try for more than 2 or 3 during an "incident".

Thamks Charlie. I'm using a rechargeable battery pack with the scope. It shows low battery but will last all night and then some no problem. One of these days I'll make my own that puts out the right voltage.

Yes I started to work them over (not shown in video) but ran out of ammo. I loaded 20 rounds into the 30 round magazine to save weight and I paid the price for it. Reload was a 5 minute walk away. Left it behind with my backpack again to save weight while I went to check this pasture. Guess I need to tough it out next time! Never know what you'll run into.

Reading the title of the thread I figured you'd of run the soundtrack along with the action for this song::
