Big Oosik Bowie

Big Oosik Bowie - 02/08/21 07:24 PM

I've been working a bit on a big bowie that will be ready for ICCE in Fort worth. The steel is some W2 that I got from my fellow Forged in Fire competitor Rob Singleton, clay quenched for a good hamon. The oosik was my door prize at the last ICCE in Kansas City, and I've been waiting on a big bowie to use it on. This is also my first penny style guard.

Glued the final assembly up late last night. Should have some finished pics and likely a video over the next few days.

is there no mechanical attachment between blade and oosik?

There's a threaded finial in the middle of the butt cap that connects to a threaded section of the tang. It's literally bolted together smile

Greatness Jason. The price of Oosik has gone crazy. I used to be able to buy a big Oosik for $40 to $50 but not any more!

I hear you, Mike. I paid 90 for that one three years ago, but it's big, nice shape, good texture. Better than average piece.
