Where do y'all get your forges? Do you make your own? If so, where can one find plans/ideas for making one?

Back when I had a forge I built it myself. There are lots of videos on youtube about building forges and burners!

Built mine using green freon container. Used KO Wool and Satanite for liner. Bought burner assembly. Sounds like a small jet engine. You anywhere near San Antonio?

Wayne Goddard wrote a book,$50 Knife Shop in which he describes a one brick forge. You need a FIRE brick (different kind of brick). You can use a regular propane torch. The only problem is you are limited to a 4" blade. The first time I tried it I got the steel up to a high yellow, almost white. It didn't come out very good and my pal said yellow is TOO HOT, you burned out all the carbon. In any event it WORKS and it is a cheap fast way to see if you like forging your own blades.
