Not finished with it but this one is going to make a great camp knife. Blade was made from an old sawmill blade and was heat treated and tempered to HRC 60 at the edge and 57 at the spine. Overall length is around 14" with a blade length of around 8 3/4". (estimates, I'll have to get exact dimensions when it's finished.) Scales are Lignum Vitae with stainless pins.
In the world of wood, Lignum Vitae is the stuff of legends. Among commercially available hardwoods, it is widely regarded as the heaviest and hardest wood in the world. It’s unique olive green color, delicate feathered grain pattern, and other-worldly rot resistance only serves to add to its aura. It will darken up some as it's shaped, sanded down and run over the buffer.
