I made use of a very old Victor long spring trap, some nicely figured bocote and brass pins.

I like it. Bocote is my favorite wood.

This winter, the first bobcat I trap, is going to be skinned with a knife I made from a trap spring. The thought of it just seems very satisfying to me.

During the mountain men fur trade era, many trap spring knives were made from necessity. The trappers didn't always have access to a blacksmith shop or trade knives, but they did always have long spring traps and basic metallurgy skills.

Frank and I are of the same mindset, take something old and forgotten and bring it back to life in the form of a knife.
