Alaska Knife Rescue

Alaska Knife Rescue - 08/27/18 10:31 PM

I found a really beat-up, abused Alaska Knife at a flea market a couple of weekends ago. I tried to buff out the scratches and nicks, but couldn't do it. A buddy has a bead blaster, so I took the knife over and gave it a good blasting. It turned out pretty well, covering most of the ugly stuff that I couldn't buff out, particularly given the fact that I had no idea what I was doing!!

I'm thinking that as a hog butchering knife in the field, it will work quite well. It's taken a good edge, once I got all the nicks and chunks smoothed out. Whoever had the knife before must have used it to cut limestone, or, done some serious cutting on game carcasses while they were on the ground in rocky territory.

Solid design hard use tool. Definitely worth restoring.
