Keechi Creek Public Hunts - 09/03/21 04:55 PM

Just won a e-postcard archery hunt for Keechi Creek. Looking for any info on that WMA and about the hunt if you have any. Looks to be by compartment and the permit is for a 10 day period.

I Hunted it back in 05 as a youth. The terrain is typical hardwood bottom land. Some spots are super thick, others have had habitat improvement clearings done. There are a fair amount of deer there, and lots of pigs. I never saw a decent buck, however the weather was warm and we did not hunt that hard. I remember lots of does taken, and a couple basket rack 6 & 8 point bucks. We found a decent spot and corned it generously and were able to take a doe out of a herd of six or so that showed up. Good luck on the hunt. I have often thought of trying to go back on a hunt there and fill in the gaps in my memories.

Hunted there a couple of years ago. I stuck two does and 2 hogs. A tree stand, climbing or otherwise is very helpful. I didn't see any real nice bucks but there are a LOT of hogs.

Good luck!

If I’m not mistaken, it’s where Buffalo and Keechi creek meets. Took my boy on 2 different youth hunts years ago. Lock on stand or a climber is what you will need. Look for and find the food source, you will find the deer.
