USACE Grapevine Lake Hunting

Unlucky on the deer draw but still chasing the pigs via archery. I have yet to find an area with consistent sightings the past few weeks, any suggestions?

Got drawn for deer there this year by the grace of God. I saw quite a bit of hogs there last year, but haven't seen a single one this year. Most of us Grapevine hunters try to keep that lake on the down low, especially since it gets a LOT of pressure. I'll tell you this. If you want to even consider killing a hog out there, you gotta do a fair amount of scouting, and don't be afraid to go way out there. The further and deeper you go on that lake, the better! There's quite a bit of white oak on that lake too, I'd recommend trying to find those and look for sign that way.

Definitely some thick stuff in there, put plenty of miles on the boots when fishing Denton Creek, and of course see pigs and deer then, just my first year figuring out how to get access to hunt.

Definitely. Kayak is honestly probably your best bet, depending what section of the USACE land on Grapevine you're trying to hunt. My buddies and I use our kayaks to duck hunt out there to get to remote spots. I'd recommend doing the same for pigs.
