I pull more ticks off me than I do on the cat. I use this tick key, amazon, about $7.00. [Linked Image]

Unless it changed, squarrel/hog hunts in May...
Did majority of my hog hunts Jan-end March, cooler months..
If did hunt May, twas the early mornings...
Been awhile since been 🦃 turkey hunting, too much going on.
Checked trail cams on public land, turkey, deer, squarrwl, pheasant, & yotes.
slinger pard & i planning on breaking in new 50cal muzzlleloader.
Day of target shooting... bang don't miss the heat, always prefured cool weather...
Been seeing ticks around here for several weeks now..
Be checking some cam's soon, some on privete land, some public. Will post some of the better ones

Stay Safe...

Ya squirrel was open! Saw a lot of hog signs. I don't try for any, but saw some. Will be putting camera's out around first part of August.

I wouldn't mind trying OSBWMA again. I went out there on a lottery hunt about 8 years ago. Saw 2 people hunting in my compartment that shouldn't be there. Seems like a neat place.

Hunted OSB many times, rifle draw hunts and bow hunts as well. Tough place to hunt . You'll need a lot of luck as well as skill to kill a mature buck on that property. I killed a small 8 pt with my bow sometime back in the 90's.

Re: Hot day in the woods. - 08/01/20 03:26 PM

cheers one of the best times ta scout/hunt, after it rains or snows...
Morning hunts during the squirrel/hog hunts in May was only time hit the woods...
How bad were the mosketoes ? Here fishing , checking cam's & other out door activities,
unusually mosketoe free...
Early deer/hog hunts (archery) @ OSBWMA ya had ta fight off the mosketoes & knats...
Didnt have an (asalt) gun , rofl.
Too many tick's, skeeters, chigger's & such out in warmer months, cheers did several morning hunts on cooler mornings, did more sweating than anything...
The hog any legal means hunts (Jan - end March) tis whin did me hunt/scouting..
Warmer weather, did the hog hunts, around my feeders, & such, used cam's ta see best times...

& a up , nice recurve, did lots of bow fishing for carp back in 70's... Archery used a compound, has the let off, advantage... too many times draw back as deer steps behind tree or such & the deer holds up...
Stay Safe...

WF those trailcams are gonna grow legs and walk off. grin Even in the off-season. I use small camo paracord and tie my TC's on a tree back in some bushes. Yeah they pick up false pics when the wind blows the branches but thats okay.

Re: Hot day in the woods. - 08/14/20 07:59 PM

I have some hidden in the area, so if bad guy takes them I will have them on camera. FYI, the Biologists have camera's out also, I think they have spy camera's on theirs also. You don't want to take theirs, could get some major jail time!

cheers have had my trail cam's set up out thar, left climbing stands, chain on, & never had problems out thar..
Same here, have thread of pic's from public land...
Have several with hunters walking right past cam's...
Most hunters Do respect other hunters stuff..
& Yes the Biologists Do have trail cam's & other high-tech stuff out...
Had seen (yard stick buck) out thar, & asked if any one had taken it...
One of the guys showed pic's from thar trail cam's, some awesome 🦌 bucks out thar.
bounce & none were of the yard stick buck, & banana2 never heard of it taken It would have been talked about...

As mentioned in a thread...
OSBWMA tis one of best kept secrets...
The archery only deer hunts, with the limited draw hunts, up ta great management...
It's made Awesome differance...
Used the hog only hunts as scout, & learn terrain, with chance ta put food on the grill...
& had seen the hog population, decrease, from first few years it opened, & deer population increase...

Hunters been the eyes & ears, high-tech come a long ways..
Used ta have ta sign in, going in & out...
Activity, & had ta put licences plate on forum...

It should be opening up for squirrel & archery deer & hogs with weapons of period of hunts. Oct..
Knatts & moskettoes be thick...
rofl i used #'er8's elmer ta thin em out... Didn't have the thermal unit...
Bought the (dirt scent spray) did pretty good keepen em @ bay. Face mask, they swarmed, in front of ya...
Archery started last week here..
Posted few pic's of deer in different thread, hammer had moved the cam,not seen the bucks, mostly doe & fawn pic's
Always see 3ta4 nice bucks in that area, not alot of woods, so they usualy move by time season starts...
Best wish's...

coolpics White Falcon, miss me hunts down thar...
Thanks up for the updates...
Not every one can aford leases....
Best bang for your 🦌 buck, not an executive hunt...
pappy
