Colorado Bend State Park Hunt

I was drawn for a doe/spike hunt at Colorado Bend State Park.
Did not see a doe/spike.
Did see a 6pt and 8pt,could not shoot those though.
I was able to shoot my first Aoudad though.
Had a great hunt.

What did you do with your Aoudad? Did you butcher it yourself or take the meat to a processor? Is Aoudad good to eat?

Took it to processor.
Never tried one before.

Got to hunt this spot once. The deer were everywhere once the sun set. I put my name in the draw each year and hope to get back there.

Man that is awesome! I have never hunted Colorado Bend State Park but I have camped out there. Me and my wife ditched the kids on my inlaws and had a nice getaway out there. I love that place!

I ground up an aoudad ewe a couple years back, 80/20 using pork butt, and she ate great. It was different than deer, but I wouldn't hesitate to eat another.

First taste of aoudad, was very good.
I had never tried it before.
I fried some straight ground aoudad in a cast iron skillet, and it was great!
Only seasoned the patties with kosher salt,black pepper, and garlic.
I really enjoyed it!
