Cooper Lake WMA/South Sulphur Unit

Cooper Lake WMA/South Sulphur Unit - 10/28/19 04:34 PM

I'm looking at taking my chances, since I have recently moved to Sulphur Springs. I have a family place to go to in Hamilton, but my time visiting the ranch this season is limited, because I'm currently in Paramedic School and concentrated clinical rotations will be the end of me. Any pointers on hunting public? And any pointers/stories on specifics for Cooper Lake?

I assume you're talking about the South Sulphur State Park unit? It's only open about 2 weeks in early December basically. I've hunted it several times. It can get crowded opening weekend because there is only 3 legal entry points. I would say the quality of hunting is a little better than the regular WMA around the other areas of the lake but not by much.
